History
Prime Time Volleyball Club was first established in the
Champaign-Urbana area in December, 1995. In Prime Time's first year of existence, membership within the club consisted of 48 girls in the high school division
and 53 girls in the junior high division. See the Alumni page for the large number of past NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3, JUCO and NAIA athletes have come out of the
program.
Present
In the 2005-2006 season, the club ushered in a new era with a club director change as well as a
change in the club's mission and focus. A number of changes took place last year including a greater focus on the individual athlete's growth with
position-specific practices and ensuring that all teams partcipate in at least two large tournaments during the season (including at least one national qualifier).
Although Prime Time continues to serve volleyball players from a number of different schools, backgrounds and playing levels, the focus of developing the
elite athlete has been renewed. This past year, the high school division of Prime Time consisted of 65 girls. We are very proud to say that over the
last three years, every senior girl that played Prime Time and wanted to play collegiately went on to play volleyball reinforcing that concept of the elite athlete
and the dedication to quality over quantity.
Season
The Prime Time season lasts from early November through June for the travel teams or through March for the local teams. Travel teams will practice 3-4 times per week (Sun, Mon, Thu in the gym, Tue for performance training), and local teams will practice 2-4 times per week (Sun, Wed in the gym, Mon, Thu for performance training). See the Schedules page for the practice and tournament schedules.
